Rainy engagement session

Last weekend Jenny and I photographed an engagement session for an awesome couple Jessy and Paul. We are shooting their wedding in December and are super excited, especially after witnessing how photogenic they are! We went out early Saturday morning to the Sarasota marina hoping the weather would cooperate, but alas, it did not. It had been raining the entire week before and certainly wasn't going to stop now. But we went through with the shoot anyway, and it turned out really nice. The rain eventually turned to drizzle and the drizzle to just an overcast sky, and even that began clearing up a bit toward the end of the session. But one thing I learned (or re-learned, anyway) is there's nothing quite like rain to set a nice mood for your photographs, and there is nothing like an overcast sky to provide perfectly diffused light for your subjects. So really, the weather worked out quite well. I would still have loved a little morning sunshine, but we worked with what we had and it was a lot of fun! If you want to check out the entire session, please visit our website at www.mattandjennyphotography.com. Here are a few of mine that made the cut...

St. Augustine getaway

Because I got the weekend off work (which practically never happens. Ever.) Jenny and I went to St. Augustine! I forget how much beauty exists just an hour and a half from Gainesville. We spent the day walking through the touristy parts, eating the best fries on the planet (clearly they didn't factor in Five Guys'), playing with pigeons at the fort, and then spending the rest of the afternoon at the beach. Oh! And we had ice cream after all was said and done. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time. Here are some photos I took with the GoPro at the beach. I also took a lot of video so maybe if I ever get some time to edit it down I will post something else on here. But for now, I hope you enjoy our enjoyment : ) Peace!

The Keys-knees

Just got back from an amazing time in the Florida Keys with an even more amazing family. It's going to be difficult getting used to normal life again after waking up each morning to go catch lobster in the Gulf. And it's going to be even more difficult getting used to regular meals again after eating fresh fish and lobster for dinner every night. Oh well, at least I have some pictures to remember it by! Enjoy!

Fun and feet

Had a wonderful weekend with Jenny in Bradenton, her home town. Can't sum it up in words, so here are some pictures instead!

PS. I'm working on the foot tan

lightvsdark

I hate to pull stuff from the dusty web-filled corners of my hard drive, but I was revisiting some things and found this photo I took at New Smyrna Beach a few years back. I didn't think much of it at the time, but at the moment I would give anything to be that man on the bike. In fact, I've been staring at this image long enough now that I can even hear the waves break and smell the salty air. The other image caught my eye too, so even though it has nothing to do with bicycles and beaches, I thought i'd go ahead and include it anyway. So here's to a little envy, nostalgia and boredom.
